Free tool · a human can check it
Half the stress of French admin is not knowing what to bring. Pick a procedure and get the documents it actually needs — in plain English, with the French names, the official source, and the traps that get dossiers bounced (the apostille, the translation, the three-month rule). Tick them off as you gather them, print the list, and when it's one that really matters, hand your dossier to a real person to check before you submit. Every list is indicative — the définitive one is your own préfecture's, which we link — but this is the map that stops you turning up short.
This is a free, private planning aid, not legal or immigration advice, and the document lists are indicative and general. What any French authority (préfecture, CPAM, ANEF, ANTS, tax office) requires varies by your exact nationality, status, département and situation, and changes over time — their own published list for your case is the one that counts, and we link it for every procedure. Get birth/marriage certificates apostilled and translated where required, bring originals as well as copies, and confirm the current list before you submit. For the consequential dossiers, our guides and an optional human check are there to get it right.
